3 Projects to Beat the Wintertime Blues

Monday, January 29, 2018

Right now, it is 23 degrees, windy and very grey outdoors.  Even if I wanted to go outdoors and do a little work on Peggy Sue, it is too cold.  While we are going to be taking her to the dealership for our new canvas to be installed, that is as much as we are going to do to her during this month.  I'm hoping for some warmer winter weather in February.  Sometimes in Mississippi, that happens.  I can dream about and wish for it.  But while I wait, there are some projects that can be done indoors while dreaming of the smells of an evening campfire.

Camping at Legion State Park in Louisville, MS

As soon as our family bought our pop up camper, I joined a group on Facebook for pop up camper owners.  The camping community can be very inclusive.  But, camping can be a lonely interest when you don't have friends that share your interest in camping.  None of my tribe of friends at home like to camp.  In fact, they would admit that they like not camping.  And that is okay.  It isn't for everyone, but it is for our family.

Monday, January 22, 2018

Growing up, I traveled out west with my family each summer.  One summer, driving across Texas my sister and I fell asleep with our feet in the windows and woke up to sunburned feet.  What family vacation memories are burned into your mind forever?  Is it a National Lampoon series of unfortunate events or the trip of a lifetime that you feel that you can never recreate?

Campers love camping themed decorative items.  Sometimes these items are easy to find.  Other times, you may need to make your own camping themed decor.  There are so many lovely camping fabrics available that I prefer to make my own if I can.  Timeless Treasures has a beautiful selection of vibrant colors that would suit any campers preference.  From frilly pinks to traditional prints and standard colors, there truly is something for everyone.

Our family on a non-camping weekend.  This is us at the start of 2018.
Last year, we spent a lot of time renovating our camper and completing projects.  We were finding our way as a family camping.  There were a lot of trial runs and guesswork.  I loved most of it.  The growing pains were good ones that made 2017 worthy of some accolades and alterations for the 2018 year.
